Violet City, Falkner Revisited and References to Retro Sweets

Ok, so it’s been a fair few weeks since the last story mode update from myself; this is due to the festive season and other distractions, but now we can continue with the story mode in Violet City.

Before we begin, remember we are starting where we left off, at the gate to Violet City in Route 31. Proceed through it and enter Violet City.

Damn, that Onix is Huge

Firstly, you must have a Bellsprout. Capture one if you don’t already have it, then head to the north of Violet City where you’ll find a husky gentleman in the woods. He wants to trade your Bellsprout for his Onix, which can be handy for battles like the one against Falkner.

A Horticulturalist’s Nightmare (Bellsprout Tower)

At the north end of Violet City, explore the grand purple-roofed building known as Bellsprout Tower. Inside, deal with shadow Bellsprouts causing trouble. Use fire-type Pokémon like Ember to swiftly defeat them.

Falkner the Flying-type Falconer Fanatic

Find Falkner outside the Pokémon Gym to the left of Violet City center for a rematch. The battle now involves both Pidgeotto (level 25) and Pidgeot (level 30) simultaneously. Use Rock-type Pokémon or ideally an electric Pokémon like Shiny Shinx, if available, for an advantage.

After defeating Falkner, you receive your first gym badge.
